Lin Lavery for First Selectman :: Environment

Issues: Environment

Lin is passionate about the stewardship of our town's land and natural resources.  Our quality of life and the health of our children are directly impacted by the quality and health of our environment.  One month after taking office, Lin created the Environmental Action Task Force with more than 100 members to address these issues.

Environment photo.jpgThe Task Force established Greenwich as a leader in environmental awareness, took on key issues such as artificial turf and pesticide use, and introduced policies to the Board of Selectmen to make all Town government operations environmentally sustainable. As a result of the Task Force’s work, our children are safer on our town playing fields and in our classrooms. Task Force work continues with the public education activities of Go Greener Greenwich, a forum which educates and inspires us to actively engage in environmental issues as a community.  The Go Greener Schools Committee includes all public and independent schools.  On September 12, Go Greener Greenwich will present an EcoFair and concert at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park to bring people together and present resources available for greener living practices.

Lin believes it is short sighted and costly to neglect the quality of our air, land and water.  Environmental quality makes a difference in all our lives, and it especially impacts our children.
